Quyle Clay Sandstone Buff clay body, and various Amaco Cone 6 glazes along with my own cone 6 glazes. A PDF document with ALL images and specific glaze information
Using a Quyle Clay Sandstone Buff clay body, I tried various Amaco Cone 6 glazes along with my own cone 6 glazes. I also experimented with applying a black underglaze onto the textures, then brushed it off, leaving more definition of my designs. A PDF document with ALL images and specific glaze information
Ceramics - April, 2020
Experimenting with a "new" clay body - it is a darker reddish brown, and when it is fired with a glaze on it, the iron particles create dark speckles in the glaze. Below are some images of the raw pieces, and one glazed.
Ceramics - September, 2019
Recovering has been a long experience, but I am now able to get my hands back into clay. I recently created some more "Little Lady" sculptures in porcelain, along with a bunch of plates, and pulled them out of the kiln...these are going into a Ceramics show in Sept - Oct. Whooopppeee!

Artworks - January, 2016

Slide show at left - these are all drawings done during a Life Drawing session on January 20, with model Kyle Vasquez.
The drawings are all done using Tombow pens and water on acid free papers, 18" x 24". The Tombow pens have two ends: one is a fairly tough felt tip brush and the other is a small line felt tip. The ink is non-toxic and water-soluble. I wind up using the larger, brushy end for all the drawings. Each pose is 7 minutes long. Many of these poses will be redrawn in Painter, using similar brushes: a thick -n-thin felt tip marker, and a blender brush,, "just add water", where I will create an atmospheric, highly textured background and integrate the figure into/onto the background.. See my Figurative Painting page for examples of finished works. |
Artworks - October, 2015
"Let the Chips Fall" at left
"Pipe Dreams" at right
Both of these pieces are framed and on display in the studio. Framed size is 14" x 20". They are $100 each.
These are one-of-a-kind artworks: each piece is printed using Epson Archival Inks on matching Epson Archival Papers: at least 100 years guaranteed. Once I am satisfied with the results, that's it, I only produce 1 image. Any questions? Please contact me. |

A few Ravens to whet one's whistle. Been reading more about the more than significant explosion of the Raven population on our west coast. According to the Cornell University Ornithological studies, the population of ravens has risen 7Kx since 1970. That's a LOT of Ravens, and I'm sure most of them are in my yard......

Artworks - June - July, 2015
The slide show on the right, shows latest artworks created in Painter. The textured backgrounds are derived from old rusted surfaces, patina-ed metal surfaces, old stained papers. I have added another dimension of texture using collected hand-written document images from famous authors, artists, scientists, and added the writing into the backgrounds. The writing has been disrupted by my using various Painter brushes to disturb it enough to be unreadable from what it was originally. Some small bits do "peak" through. |

The slides (at left) show some of my latest "Off the Wall" series of paintings. Over the past 2 years, I have been influenced by all the arche"textural" environment - in our cities, country side - the decay of our lives. These paintings have at their base, imagery of old walls, rusting, corroding metals, building siding, rusted boat hulls. I've incorporated my drawings from sessions with live models. They started my "Off the Wall" direction....and I now think of them as modern cave paintings. Enjoy! |
