CHARCOALS
Most artists have begun their drawing experience using charcoals: hard, compressed charcoal, soft vine charcoal, various hardness of charcoal pencils. Working on a number of textured paper surfaces, as well as using liquid mediums to smear/move charcoal. Linda typically starts a life drawing session with 60 second "gestural" poses, and quickly captures the figure's motion/essence using a compressed charcoal stick on its side. The last few seconds use the end of the stick to capture the gestural line that defines the figure. All work is done using acid free archival papers.
